The gripping family saga of Ragnar, Rollo (Clive Standen), Lagertha (Canadian Katheryn Winnick) and Bjorn (Canadian Alexander Ludwig) continues as alliances and loyal friendships are questioned, faith is catechized and relationships are strained. Vikings tells the extraordinary tales of the lives and epic adventures of these warriors and portrays life in the Dark Ages, a world ruled by raiders and explorers, through the eyes of Viking society.

Canadian TV Ratings: March 24-30, 2014

The 2014 Juno Awards title card (screenshot via CTV GO)

The 2014 Juno Awards title card (screenshot via CTV GO)

The Juno Awards took quite a tumble from last year pulling in only 1,431,000 compared to last year’s 1,908,000. The Juno Awards also failed to make the list of the top-ten programs of the week and had to settle for 15th place. Last year The Juno Awards was the fifth biggest drawer for the week and second place for the night with roughly 40,000 fewer viewers than the top show of the day The Amazing Race. This year nearly a million viewers separated the top show for the night, The Amazing Race, and the second place Juno Awards.

The steep drop might have something to do with the competition. This year it was up against the finale of The Walking Dead on AMC. That’s not to mention Continuum, Cosmos, Big Brother Canada and a whole host of other shows that night. The Junos also aired later in the year last year than it did this year (April 21).

CSI took a tumble from the top spot on the list to 16th spot for the week. That’s the slot right after the Junos. That’s likely because it was a rerun. CBS also aired a rerun of Criminal Minds that night so that might explain its absence on this week’s list. Also notably, Thursday’s primetime broadcast of The Big Bang Theory is absent from the list—same goes for Tuesday’s Chicago Fire. That may have something to do with Chicago Fire being a rerun on Tuesday and Big Bang Theory being preempted for NCAA basketball on Thursday on NBC and CBS respectively.

Survivor’s ratings were the exact same number as last week, 2,239,000. That gave it the seventh spot for the week, last week and third for the night, but this week that’s enough to give it the top spot for Wednesday night and the third spot for the week.

Feel free to look at BBM’s full top-30 list in the source link below. Some interesting additions are at the bottom of the list such as History’s Vikings and Global’s The Simpsons, as well as three shows from City.
