This summer, Corus Entertainment’s CMT (Canada) brings family adventures to a new level with two original series premiering on Friday, June 20. Experience the great outdoors with Hollywood couple Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott as they take on Canada’s cottage country in Tori & Dean: Cabin Fever beginning Friday, June 20 at 8 p.m. ET. Then at 9 p.m. ET, embark on a journey of lifetime with Mom’s a Medium, where Alberta-based mom and psychic medium Carmel Baird takes her family and her clients on an emotional and spiritual adventure with the afterlife.

CMT is also serving up a brand new season of food wars in the newly titled Best In Chow (formerly known as Burger WarsPizza Wars and Taco Wars) with host Cris Nannarone, who continues to discover the best in local cuisine as he travels throughout North America. The summer adventure continues with network premieres of reality-series Shipping WarsBilly The Exterminator and Top Shot along with three One 2 One specials featuring intimate interviews and live performances from Country music’s chart toppers Florida Georgia LineLuke Bryan and Rascal Flatts.

W Movies and Sundance pull an OWN and seemingly ignore their license requirements, too

I recently wrote about OWN Canada and how it seemingly ignores the requirements of its license, and pretty much airs whatever it pleases. I’ve looked into some of Corus’ other channels and it seems like OWN Canada isn’t the only one bending the rules. Both W Movies and Sundance Channel have gone radically off course and seem not to be meeting their license requirements at all.

As you may know W Movies was originally known as SexTV, but what you may not know is what the CRTC says W Movies should air. I found this regarding W Movies in a 2011 CRTC document: The licensee shall provide a national English-language specialty Category B service devoted exclusively to programming related to love, romance, marriage, relationship-themed game shows, sexuality and gender issues, family planning, relationship breakdown and magazine-style programming featuring romantic vacation resorts.
