Canadian TV Ratings [Sports]: October 30-November 1, 2015

Baseball was still able to do some damage to everything else on TV without the Jays (logo via Wikimedia)

After weeks of pulling in crazy numbers, the baseball ratings fell back down to earth over the weekend. That’s in part, no doubt, because the Jays were eliminated, but also likely because some folks decided to watch the World Series on Fox.

Can you blame people for wanting to watch the American broadcast in its full glory, though? When else would you have the chance to see commercials featuring Verizon’s awful new logo and the American promos for Fox’s equally as terrible new show Scream Queens?

Anyway, because of that, the weekend’s World Series matches pulled in between 868,000 and 1,060,000 viewers over on Sportsnet. That’s definitely not bad, but of course nowhere near the ratings the Jays drew in when they still had a chance of winning the Commissioner’s Trophy.

Unfortunately, Hockey Night in Canada’s early games had the task of going right up against the World Series on Saturday night, and it was hit pretty badly. The three matches that made up the early games of Saturday’s HNIC only drew 1,580,000 pairs of eyeballs. That’s down from the over two million viewers that HNIC’s comparable games attracted the week before.

Hometown Hockey also had to go up against the World Series on Sunday. Actually, forget I even mentioned Hometown Hockey. It’s probably best if we forget all about it to spare people’s feelings. Let’s just say it drew fewer viewers than NASCAR and figure skating. So, yeah.

Anyway, check out my charts below and visit Yahoo Sports Canada at the source link for more on the weekend’s top sports.
