Canadian TV Ratings: February 9-15, 2015

The Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary Special topped the week with over 2.6 million viewers on Global and that audience was just under the 2.8 million that tuned in for the Grammys on City the week before. That’s not too bad for a show that has been on the air for over 40 years.

Saturday Night Live wasn’t the only special broadcast that saw big ratings. Hockey Night in Canada morphed into Hockey Day in Canada on Valentine’s Day and the East Coast prime-time game drew 2,287,000. That’s roughly what all the early Hockey Night in Canada games across the CBC and Rogers’ various channels usually draw on a typical weekend. That audience was enough for the Hockey Day in Canada East Coast prime-time broadcast to be the sixth most-watched program of the week.

Outside of those two specials, most of the week’s top programs were the same ones you tend to see week after week and many drew impressive numbers. That was even the case for CSI, which went up directly against the Saturday Night Live special. It attracted over 2.4 million for its Sunday at 10 p.m. episode and over 2.1 million for its Sunday at 9 p.m. broadcast.
