(Toronto, Canada) Corus Entertainment’s CMT (Canada) gives viewers even more thrilling storm chasing footage this fall. Announced today, Tornado Hunters has been greenlit by the channel following the success of the web series and broadcast pilot debut on October 26, 2014. Production is set to start in March for the 10 x 30-minute reality series.
“Tornado Hunters was a huge hit on digital and with their specials on CMT this year,” says John MacDonald, Vice President of Television, Head of Corus Women and Family. “We are excited to bring a full season of these Canadian storm chasers to our CMT audience who can’t get enough of the adrenaline and craziness they bring each week as they put their lives at risk.”
Developed with the participation of the Bell Fund, the Tornado Hunters web series was produced by Saloon Media in association with CMT. In August, CMT.ca captivated viewers with five webisodes that gave a first look at the risk and intensity that comes with living a life of storm hunting. The web series garnered ample fan engagement through social media, leading it to become the highest performing video content in the history of the site.
