Canadian TV Ratings: December 15-21, 2014

While ratings for the week of Dec. 8 weren’t particularly noteworthy, the ratings for the week of Dec. 15 sure were. CTV decided to go with a Cancon-heavy schedule, and naturally, you might expect that CTV’s ratings would have dipped without a few of its American anchors. So how did CTV’s programming fair? I’m glad you asked.

CTV aired a MasterChef Canada Christmas special on Monday, and with only 1,407,000 tuning in, it even lost out to City’s Scorpion. While 1,407,000 for a Canadian show is far from awful, it’s still down from what a typical MasterChef Canada episode would pull in, and I can’t help but imagine that the head honchos over at CTV are now a bit nervous about season two of MasterChef Canada starting in the mythical Sunday at 7 p.m. time-slot in a few weeks.

CTV’s presentation of Corner Gas: The Movie on Dec. 15 did far better and managed to crack the two-million-viewer mark. Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough to make it the night’s most watched program according to the Numeris chart. Global managed to best it with Survivor. However, the broadcast of Corner Gas: The Movie was a “super-simulcast network premiere,” which is a fancy way of saying that it aired on CTV, CTV Two and CTV GO. I’m not sure if Numeris included the CTV Two numbers with CTV’s for the broadcast chart, but if they didn’t, I wouldn’t be surprised if CTV Two’s numbers along with CTV’s would have helped Corner Gas: The Movie top Survivor
