Press Release: NICKELBACK JOINS STAR-STUDDED LINEUP OF ET CANADA’S NEW YEAR’S EVE AT NIAGARA FALLS PERFORMERS

TORONTO, December 8, 2014 – ET Canada turns up the volume for its 6th annual New Year’s Eve at Niagara Falls with a special performance by one of the world’s top-selling bands, NickelbackThe rock stars join previously announced performers Keith UrbanNick JonasShawn Mendes and Lights for the two and a half hour event hosted by Cheryl Hickey, Rick Campanelli and Sangita PatelET Canada’s New Year’s Eve at Niagara Falls starts at 10pm (local time) on Global.

For the first time on Canadian television, Nickelback will perform their smash-hit “What Are You Waiting For?” that was pre-recorded during their RDIO session at the Orange Lounge, which is slated to air in January. The Alberta natives join international superstar and event headliner Keith Urban, heartthrobs Nick Jonas and Shawn Mendes, and power performer Lights.

Providing viewers with a backstage pass to all the action, everyone’s favourite Big Brother Canada couple  Jon and Neda will be on hand as social media correspondents by tweeting from their Twitter handles, @GoofyNewfieBBCA and @NedaBBCAN, throughout the big night. The couple is also making an announcement that Big Brother Canada fans won’t want to miss. Viewers can join the conversation and catch behind-the-scenes moments by using the hashtag #ETCanadaNYE.

Stopping by to join the celebration is Remedy’s new addition, Niall Matter who shares an exclusive season two sneak peek trailer of Global’s hit medical drama. While on-stage, Cheryl and Rick talk to Matter about his upcoming role in the series and what viewers can expect from the sophomore season.

Last year the two and a half hour event garnered a total of 1.3 million viewers (2+, national) with an increase of 526,000 more viewers over the previous year. At the stroke of midnight viewership peaked at over 3.4 million (2+, national) Canadians tuning in to ET Canada, which is a 67% increase over last year and more than any other show in Canada.
