Canadian TV Ratings: November 3-9, 2014

This week saw fan favourites NCISCastle, Agents of SHIELD and The Flash vanish from the charts. Most of them disappeared due to preemptions somewhat related to the US election on the 4th. As that’s the case, there are a few oddities on the charts this week.

Castle was out of the mix on Monday, leaving Gotham, The Blacklist and CTV Evening News to take first, second and third place for the night respectively. Gotham had a surprising spike in viewership considering it lost its lead in of original Big Bang Theory episodes last week. The Batman crime drama managed to gain 275,000 viewers.

As the US elections were on Tuesday, it was the day probably hardest hit by preemptions. CTV chose to run The Hunger Games and it did fairly well with 1,702,000 tuning in.

Many of the shows during the rest of the week saw negligible losses and gains from last week, however on the weekend things became a bit more interesting. The weekend edition of CTV Evening News sprung out of nowhere to best CBC’s Hockey Night In Canada for Saturday. On Sunday, Once lost 137,000 viewers from last week, while Madam Secretary surged, gaining 265,000 viewers over last week. Looks like it’s gaining a following, who would’ve guessed?

I have the top shows organized by day below, but for even more on the week’s top-30 programs, check out Numeris at the source link below.
