CBC’s number one Canadian entertainment program, MURDOCH MYSTERIES, celebrates its 100th episode with tonight’s broadcast of “Holy Matrimony Murdoch!” airing at 8 p.m. (8:30 NT) on CBC Television. One of Canada’s most successful and longest-running dramas, the beloved period-crime drama has become a staple for CBC and broadcasters around the world with its winning formula that brings together compelling mysteries, unique slices of turn-of-the-century history, ingenious inventions and personal moments for each character. Since its debut on CBC in fall 2012, the series has generated more than 50 million first-run views on the network.
In the 100th episode, “Holy Matrimony, Murdoch!,” as Murdoch (Yannick Bisson) and Julia (Hélène Joy) prepare to walk down the aisle, they are pulled into the trial of a woman accused of killing her husband. Complicating the case is Crown Prosecutor Alister Gordon (Neil Crone), the same lawyer who relentlessly pursued Julia in the murder of her late husband Dr. Darcy Garland, who is convinced of the woman’s guilt.
“CBC is proud to be a part of the long journey of this beloved, long-running series,” said Sally Catto, general manager, programming, CBC Television. “Congratulations to all of the talented people behind Murdoch Mysteries as we celebrate the 100th episode.”
