Canadian TV Ratings [Sports]: July 11-13 2014

Well, well, well. If you had any doubt that the World Cup was a beast, you shouldn’t now. Sunday’s match between Germany and Argentina was watched by just under five million viewers. The 4,930,000 it attracted was significantly higher than the viewership for this year’s Stanley Cup Final. In comparison, that game only drew 3,335,000, and if you’re doing the math, that’s a good 1.5 million less than Sunday’s soccer match. So does this mean soccer is Canada’s game now?

Once you collect the pieces of your mind blown to smithereens by the World Cup numbers, you may notice that the Blue Jays game on Sunday dipped from the previous week. That game had a viewership of 436,000 this week vs. 516,000 last week. The New Hampshire 300 did better than the race that charted last week Sunday though, however, that race was broadcast on TSN2, while The New Hampshire 300 was on TSN proper.
