What To Watch In The Wild: July 13-19

Season/series premieres:

CNN veers further off course Sunday with another reality show, The Hunt With John Walsh, which sounds a lot like John Walsh’s last show America’s Most Wanted. Right after that tune in to FX to see The Strain, the show behind the billboard so creepy they had to remove it from city streets. Really, what’s up with that promo image though?

Sunday also has the premiere of The People’s Couch on Bravo at 8:30 p.m., but remember that point I made about the same show being stretched across multiple networks in my Mom’s A Medium review? Bell’s taking that concept and running with it by airing The People’s Couch on E! (Monday at 10 p.m.), M3 (Wednesday at 9:30) and MTV (Friday at 9 p.m.). That’s four channels so far and I wouldn’t be surprised to see it on CTV and Much sometime in the future as well.

YTV still hasn’t got the memo that we’re all sick of American Idol clones, so there’s a new season of The Next Star on Monday. Later that night The CW is debuting City’s Seed at 9 p.m. and after the US critics tore Working The Engles to shreds, it didn’t surprise me that this sitcom didn’t fly too well with them either. I’m surprised some of them knew it was on, because let’s be honest, does anyone even watch The CW or City?

PBS has Sex in the Wild on Wednesday, which isn’t as exciting as you might think as it’s a nature show. M3, however, has Dating Naked on Thursday and that day also gives us the premieres of The Smoke, Married, Candidly Nicole all at 10 p.m.

Professional athletes get paid millions of dollars to run around and chase a ball while you’re at home worrying about the bank foreclosing your home. This award show adds salt in the wound by giving them big shiny trophies (as if they didn’t have enough of those already) and broadcasting it live.
