Canadian TV Ratings [Sports]: June 6-9, 2014

If ratings are any indication it seems that the general consensus in Canada is to hell with the Rangers. (logo via Wikimedia)

Of course, you’d expect that since the last Canadian team is out of contention for the Stanley Cup that ratings would plummet, but by this much? Last week’s top NHL match was the Canadiens at the Rangers which had a viewership of 4,084,000. This week the top game was the Rangers at the Kings with 2,617,000 tuning in, that’s a drop of nearly 1.5 million viewers. If the difference between those games were a game itself this week, it would easily take third spot for the week.

The Jays seem to be doing better on the other hand. The Jays matches on Friday, Saturday and Sunday did better than the games on their respective nights last week. The top game was the Cardinals at the Blue Jays match on Friday that nearly saw a million tune in. Last week the top Jays game was just under 600,000 viewers. That’s a big jump.

You may notice this week that I’ve only covered the maximum three matches per night and the top-ten chart is no more. For more on that check out this post, but as always, if you want the full weekly ratings chart hit up Yahoo! Sports at the source link below.
