Canadian TV Ratings: March 17-23, 2014

Things got interesting this week as a few key shows returned to the list (CastleThe BlacklistNCISNCIS: Los AngelesPerson of Interest and Arrow), while others disappeared (ElementaryAgents of SHIELDHawaii Five-0Blue Bloods, Murdoch Mysteries, Resurrection and Dragon’s Den). The NCAA Basketball Tournament is partially to blame for many missing shows as well as the dramatic fall of The Big Bang Theory.

The series lost over 2.5 million viewers, dropping it to 15th place for the week and third place for Thursday night. If the 2.5 million difference between last week’s Big Bang Theory and this week’s episode was a show, it would be in third place this week, right between NCIS and The Amazing Race. Crazy, isn’t it?

Castle and The Blacklist bumped Masterchef Canada out of the top spot on Monday taking first and second place for the night respectively

NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles and Person of Interest claimed first, second and third respectively on Tuesday. The return of Person of Interest seemed to have dinged Chicago Fire’s numbers with it losing over 200,000 viewers from last week.

CSI saw roughly 100,000 more tune in, reclaiming the top spot for Wednesday night (and the week for that matter). In comparison, Criminal Minds lost 30,000 viewers, but that was more than enough to keep it ahead of Survivor: Brawn Vs. BrainsArrow also returned to the list taking fifth spot for the night with 1,676,000.

Grey’s saw a dip on Thursday of nearly 230,000. No doubt in part due to the weaker lead in (Spun Out). Motive saw a more modest dip of nearly 60,000 viewers, but the lack of Elementary and Two and a Half Men on the list meant it was able to take the fifth place spot for the night.

Blue Bloods and Hawaii Five-O were MIA on Friday, but Grimm saw 24,000 more pairs of eyeballs, and on Saturday, Hockey Night in Canada surged nearly 1 million viewers from week to week.

Sunday’s Mentalist saw nearly 400,000 fewer viewers than last week, but the shows on the chart were in the same spot they were in last week. Notably City’s Resurrection is missing from the top-30 list.

As always, BBM’s full top-30 list is at the source link below.
